The war has caused $10.3B in damages to the agricultural sector and $70B in economic losses.

The Russian invasion damaged $10.3B of tangible assets belonging to Ukraine’s agro-industrial complex, with damage to agricultural machinery accounting for almost 57% of all losses, or $5.8B. In total, more than 21% of Ukraine’s available agricultural machinery and equipment fleet is completely destroyed or damaged.

The second largest category of damaged assets, in the amount of $1.9B, is grain and oil crops, which were not only destroyed but also stolen by the Russians.

The third largest category of asset damage is storage, accounting for 17.5% of all damages, or $1.8B. Almost 11.3 million tons of capacity were destroyed, and another 3.3 million tons were damaged.

In addition, the demining of agricultural land will cost Ukraine between $12.8- $26.6B.

The total losses of the agricultural sector are estimated at $69.8B. This figure significantly exceeds the entire agricultural sector’s contribution to Ukraine’s GDP in 2021.

The largest category of losses is decreased crop production, which accounts for 49.2% of all losses, or $34.3B.
