The US will provide Ukraine with about $12B in budget support.

On January 23, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen assured Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal that the Biden administration plans to provide Ukraine with $11.8B in budgetary support for $11.8B as part of its request for additional funding.

The US Treasury Department said Washington’s leadership in providing direct fiscal aid to Ukraine is spurring other donors, who are being counted on to provide approximately 75% of Kyiv’s external financing needs this year. This funding will support critical government operations, including hospitals, schools, and emergency services.

The US Treasury emphasized that financial assistance to Ukraine demonstrates the determination of both Washington and its allies to protect the territorial sovereignty and freedoms of democratic states.

Meanwhile, the US Senate is working to secure broad support for the US border policy agreement. This will allow US lawmakers to negotiate the final phase of the approval for Ukraine’s $61B in aid.
