The US is ready to assist Ukraine in ensuring its energy security and stability of energy supplies for nuclear energy, said US Chargé d’Affaires Kristina Kvein at a meeting with Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko. During the meeting, they discussed the issues of a sustainable Ukrainian heating season in the face of Russia’s energy aggression, which includes blocking coal supplies by rail and significantly reducing Russian gas transit through Ukraine. The parties also discussed cooperation in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted operation of nuclear power plants during the fall-winter period 2021-2022 and synchronizing Ukraine’s energy system with the European ENTSO-E.
