The US is preparing its last military aid package, while Italy extends its support through 2024.
The White House is preparing the last military aid package for Ukraine, to be delivered at the end of the year. After that, the White House will have no funds for additional aid and will have to wait for a decision from Congress.
At the same time, the US is asking Japan to provide Ukraine with more missiles for the Patriot air defense system. Japan is expected to formally formalize policy changes on December 22, allowing it to export several dozen Patriot missiles to the US.
America also wants Ukraine to focus on its weapons production in 2024. The goal is to create enough of a real threat with drones and long-range missiles to allow for meaningful talks with Russia in late 2024 or in 2025.
Ukraine has declared its readiness to invest in joint defense enterprises and directly purchase weapons and equipment from American companies.
Meanwhile, Italy passed a law that continues to supply military aid to Ukraine until the end of 2024.
