The US is preparing a new weapons package worth $1.1B for Ukraine’s fight against Russia.

Funds from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), appropriated by Congress, are expected to be used to allow the Biden administration to procure weapons from the military-industrial complex rather than from existing US stockpiles. Sources said the package would include HIMARS launch systems, accompanying munitions, various anti-drone and radar systems types, spare parts, training, and technical support. The package also includes 150 Armored High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, 40 trucks, and 80 trailers to transport heavy equipment, and additional radar systems for unmanned aerial systems, among other items.
