The Ukrainian government is preparing to reboot customs.
On April 11, the Ukrainian Parliament introduced amendments to the customs code. The document envisages a transparent competition for the head of the State Customs Service with the involvement of international experts and a clear decision-making algorithm by the competition commission, which submits a submission to the Prime Minister for only one candidate (the winner of the competition).
An annual external independent audit of the effectiveness of customs authorities is also introduced. In the case of a negative conclusion based on the audit results, the head of customs may be dismissed.
The law also introduces a one-time certification of customs authorities to establish compliance with their position held and determines their salary amount.
