The UIF names the areas in which Ukraine has the potential to become a strategic ally of the United States.
The Ukrainian Institute for the Future (UIF) identified four key areas for expanding cooperation between Ukraine and the US in the next 5-10 years.
The first is the development of the critical materials sector. Ukraine has large reserves of minerals that the US defines as strategically important. The creation of a full cycle of extraction, processing, and production of finished products with the participation of American investment is estimated at $2-4B over the next five years.
The second area is trade in products from the mining and metallurgical complex, which has been facilitated by the liberalization of import conditions for Ukrainian metal products to the US market.
The third area is deepening cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. Ukraine’s share in US agricultural imports stands at only 0.1%. The potential for increasing exports is estimated at $1-5B annually over the next 5-7 years.
The fourth direction is the creation of an innovation cluster in Ukraine for the US and its allies, which will become a platform for developing and testing new technologies and exchanging experience.
