The reconstruction of Kharkiv will cost $10B, and the city needs the help of international partners.

According to Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov, rebuilding everything Russia has destroyed since the start of the war will require over $10B. The occupiers have almost completely destroyed the city’s communal and private energy infrastructure. The mayor noted that no city budget in the world can withstand a $10B load, which is why Kharkiv is working to attract international partners.

“Russia is lying when it says that it only strikes military targets. With each attack, we have more and more evidence that this is a real genocide“, the mayor emphasized.

Russia strikes residential buildings, offices, and critical infrastructure in the city almost every day. At the same time, despite the difficult situation for local businesses, they continue to find a way to keep the city running. For example, in cooperation with construction companies and international funds, the city has built an underground school for 450 students.

Also, according to Terekhov, the city is developing its own differentiated system of air alarms together with the military, the State Emergency Service, and Kharkiv IT specialists.
