The government has approved and sent a 2024 draft budget to the parliament: defense support increased, and $42B is expected from partners.
The next year’s budget anticipates revenues of UAH 1.746T, expenditures of UAH 3.308T, and a UAH 1.531T budget deficit. At the same time, beginning January 1 the minimum salary will increase to UAH 7,100, and from April 1 to UAH 8,000.
Spending on security and defense are planned at UAH 1.5T. Funding for the development of Ukraine’s military industrial complex is expected to increase sevenfold to almost UAH 56B, with another UAH 48B allocated for the purchase of drones. Also, the government will allocate UAH 468.8B for social protection and UAH 30.8B to support business.
Ukraine plans to receive $42B from its partners next year. In particular, $18B from the EU and $1.1-1.2B monthly from the US. In addition, the Ukrainian government expects financial aid from IMF programs as well as other individual countries such as Norway and Japan. However, the projected volume of public debt will amount to 104.6% of GDP.
