The first biomethane production plant will be launched in Ukraine by the end of the year.
Chernihivgaz JSC, which belongs to the agricultural holding Gals Agro, issued technical requirements for integrating the first biomethane plant in Ukraine. Its connection to the gas distribution network is expected by the end of 2022, the Regional Gas Company reported. The construction of an 800 meter long gas pipeline will allow Gals Agro to transfer 330 cubic meters of biomethane per hour to the gas distribution network. Later, RGC and Chernihivgaz will build another 8-kilometer gas pipeline to increase biomethane transit capacity to 1,100 cubic meters per hour. The plan is to connect the biomethane plant to a larger number of consumers and transfer biomethane through two gas distribution stations. The design capacity of the equipment for refining biogas into biomethane is about three million cubic meters per year.
