The governments of the European Union will consider imposing an oil embargo on Russia in connection with its invasion of Ukraine, reported Reuters. In order to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw troops from Ukraine, the EU and its Western allies have already imposed a series of sanctions, including a freeze on Russia’s central bank assets. “We are working on the fifth round of sanctions, and many new names are being proposed,” a senior EU diplomat said. EU governments will begin talks between foreign ministers on Monday, followed by US President Joe Biden’s arrival in Brussels on Thursday for summits with 30 NATO allies, the EU, and the Group of Seven (G7), including Japan.
