The EU might refuse to introduce a price ceiling for Russian gas.

It is likely that the European Union will not introduce a price ceiling for Russian or any other imported gas, writes The Guardian. It is noted that the publication has reviewed the draft resolution on the instrument for solving an electric power supply emergency. The document does not mention price restrictions for either Russian or imported gas. Instead, the EU plans to levy taxes on exorbitant profits from energy companies, with a separate cap on low-carbon electricity producer income. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will present Europe’s plan to combat rising electricity prices on September 14.
