The EU has approved the ninth package of sanctions against Russia.
According to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the most recent package focuses on technology, finance, and media. It contains sanctions against approximately 200 people and organizations involved in attacks on civilians and the abduction of children. EC Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis announced that 168 Russian companies connected to the military-industrial complex were included in the sanctions list. The total number of organizations currently subject to sanctions is 410. The EU also expanded investment bans against the energy and mining sectors of the Russian Federation, as well as advertising, marketing research, and public opinion polls for Russian businesses. Sanctions, among other things, also apply to the export f dual-purpose technologies, making it difficult to manufacture or repair weapons. These include chemicals, IT equipment, drones/drone engines, and electronics.
