The EU Commission is working on directing Russian assets to restore Ukraine.

The European Commission proposes the creation of a special court to prosecute Russian crimes in Ukraine and determine the conditions for using frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s benefit, Ursula von der Leyen said. The head of the EC noted that the EU will continue to support the International Criminal Court, at the same time, she has proposed the creation of a special court, with UN support, to investigate crimes stemming from Russian aggression and bring it to justice. In addition, the president of the EC is convinced that Russia should pay financially for the destruction it has caused. Currently, Ukraine’s losses from the war are estimated at €600B. The EU has already blocked €300B of Russian Central Bank reserves and frozen €19B of Russian oligarch assets. “We will work on an international agreement with our partners to make this possible,” Von der Leyen stressed.
