The EIB has financed 24 projects in Ukraine totaling €4.3B.

The Ministry of Finance and the European Investment Bank (EIB) recently conducted another review of the loan portfolio for joint projects in Ukraine. The parties discussed preparations for initiating new projects in April 2025 aimed at restoring social infrastructure in communities and rehabilitating water supply and sewage systems in cities.

“Ukraine’s cooperation with the EIB encompasses a wide range of areas that address the key needs of the government in the country’s economic development and improving citizens’ lives. The EIB’s loan portfolio in Ukraine is among the largest from international financial institutions, consisting of 24 active projects with a total value of €4.3B,” emphasized the ministry.

Specifically, the EIB has financed:

  1. two investment projects totaling €178M that are focused on enhancing energy efficiency in educational institutions and developing vocational education facilities
  2. two investment projects valued at €400M that will supply rolling stock for urban public transport
  3. three projects worth €640M aimed at restoring social infrastructure in regions with high numbers of internally displaced persons and areas affected by Russian aggression
