The EC insists on allocating €50B in aid to Ukraine and is waiting only for the EU Council’s decision.
The European Commission is not revising its €50B proposal for macro-financial assistance to Ukraine as part of replenishing the EU budget for 2024-2027 and is waiting for the decision from the Council of the EU, said the representative of the EC, Arianna Podesta.
“This offer of €50B remains in place, and it is now up to the Council to decide. We hope this will happen as soon as possible to ensure that support for Ukraine continues in the coming months,” she said.
That’s how Podesta answered a question regarding whether the EC should think about a plan B and work on it with the 26 EU states without Hungary to “undermine Orbán’s ability to blackmail the EU.”
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orbán wrote a letter to the head of the EC, Charles Michel, criticizing the discussion of the agreement on the additions to the budget for 2024-2027.
