The deficit of foreign trade of goods increased by 3,800%.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, Ukraine’s negative balance in  the foreign trade of goods for the first four months of the year increased by 3,800%, compared to the same period in 2022, from $180M to $7.04B. Export of goods from Ukraine for the specified period decreased by 19.6% to $13.33B. At the same time, imports increased by 21.5% to $20.37B.

As specified by the statistical office, in April 2023 the seasonally adjusted export volume decreased compared to the previous month by 9.3% to $3.26B, and imports by 1.3% to $5.35B. The seasonally adjusted balance of foreign trade in April 2023 was negative and amounted to $2.08B in March, imports of goods exceeded exports by $1.81B.
