Several industries in Ukraine are already experiencing a labor shortage.
On average, two candidates apply for each job vacancy in Ukraine, compared with nine applicants per opening one year ago. There has been more work, and the labor market has become more active, the State Employment Center has reported.
There were 103,000 vacancies in the service’s database in September compared to 83,000 in July. With the increase in vacancies, the shortage of personnel in certain professions is gradually worsening.
“Given the significant volume of population migration abroad, the labor market will face a labor shortage in the near future,” the state service added.
According to the department’s forecast, for these categories – teacher, educator, pharmacist, general practitioner/ family doctor, engineer, practical psychologist – the deficit is expected to be 14%. The deficit in trade and service workers is forecast at 15%. The estimate of the shortage of workers for maintenance operation of equipment and machines is 18%; skilled workers with tools – 21%.
