Russian forces seized the Zaporizhzhya NPP site.

The site of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) was taken by the military forces of the Russian Federation, according to the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine (SINRU). “Operational personnel monitor the condition of power units and ensure their operation following the requirements of technical regulations for safe operation,” the agency said on its website on Friday. DIARU notes that on Friday night, the Russian military fired on the site of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, resulting in a fire on its territory, which as of 6:20 a.m. was extinguished by SES units. There is no information on the dead and injured. “ZNPP units remain intact, and there is damage to the reactor compartment of Unit 1, which does not affect the safety of the unit. Systems and elements important for the safety of NPPs are in working order,” – said SINRU. SINRU noted that only one of the six power units is currently operating at the station – №4, which now produces 690 MW. Unit №1 is undergoing scheduled maintenance repairs, nuclear units №№ 2, 3, 5, and 6 are being cooled, and units №№ 2 and 3 are disconnected from the power system.
