Receiving €50B in aid from the EU will entail an increase in energy tariffs.

As the EP writes, Ukraine, within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program, must gradually transition to economically justified energy tariffs by the fourth quarter of 2025.

“It is necessary to gradually move towards increasing tariffs. According to the Facility plan, our goal is to gradually transition to economically justified tariffs for energy carriers by the fourth quarter of 2025 and cancel all public social obligations. This should be done in conjunction with the planned settlement of debts on the gas and district heating market,” said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Butenko.

According to Sergiy Makogon, former head of Operator of the Gas Transport System of Ukraine, only market tariffs can stimulate people to spend energy resources more responsibly.
