Qatari investors remain in Ukraine despite the war.
The Qatar company QTerminals, which took over the concession of the Olivia seaport in Mykolaiv, has continued jobs for its Ukrainian workers even though the port is not functioning, and intends to continue working in the Ukrainian market, said the special representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, Maksym Subh.
He explained that the company is currently using one of the contract’s provisions on the occurrence of force majeure circumstances, and after the specified term of its validity expires, it is determined to extend it.
Subh clarified that the Qatari side believes in this project’s prospects and sees the need to stay here, and this includes helping Ukrainians who would simply lose their jobs if the company exits the market.
According to the diplomat, Qatar is currently studying a number of Ukrainian projects. In addition, the Ukrainian side is preparing additional proposals for Qatar in the context of the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
