Production and sale of nuclear generated electricity in Ukraine decreased by 25%.
According to results from 2022 and the first half of 2023, Energoatom’s electricity production and sales volumes fell by a quarter, said the vice president of the state enterprise, Hartmut Jacob. He explained that this resulted from the country’s reduction of industrial electricity consumption by 50% fter the start of the war, the occupation of the ZNPP, and systematic damage to the energy network’s infrastructure.
Thus, the electricity output for 2022 decreased by 26.3% from the November 2021 forecast, and output for the first half of 2023 decreased by 25.6% compared to last year. At the same time, household electricity consumption decreased by only 11%, which led to an increase in the specific weight of the service provider’s cost as the result of special tariffs on the company’s income. The reduction in production and sales volumes, in turn, caused a drop in revenue for the state company.
