Polish investment in Ukraine decreased by 10% last year. Why?

According to Gremi Personal analysts, in 2024 the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) from Poland to Ukraine amounted to $172.5M, which is 10% less than in 2023, when the figure reached $191.6M. For comparison, in 2022 investment from Poland amounted to only $97M. In total, Poland invested more than $460M in Ukraine from 2022 to 2024.
The investment company Concorde Capital clarified that the volume of foreign direct investment from Poland to Ukraine decreased primarily due to a reduction in income received by foreign investors in Ukraine.
“The bulk of FDI from Poland is reinvested income,” experts explain.
In addition, the reduction in investment may also be associated with the gradual easing of currency restrictions, which opens new opportunities for investors. Analysts note that over the past nine years, the volume of such reinvestment has fluctuated within the range of $100-200M per year. They reached their highest level in 2021, when FDI from Poland amounted to $228M. Experts predict that in the coming years, investment volume will remain in the same range.
