Next month, Ukraine will receive the first tranche of the new EU microfinance aid package.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance, Ukraine will receive the first tranche of €18B in EU macro-financial assistance in January 2023. On December 10, the Council of the European Union supported the European Commission’s proposal to allocate additional financial support resources to Ukraine in 2023. It is expected that funds from the preferential loans will be transferred to Ukraine’s State Budget during 2023 in equal parts, contingent on Ukraine’s fulfillment of the conditions agreed to by the parties. The decision of the EU Council is an important sign of support and solidarity with Ukraine. The implementation of the new program will serve as one of the keys to maintaining financial and economic stability in the state, as well as confidence in the stable passage of the next budget year, noted Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
