Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to nearly 16% in May.

On an annual basis, inflation in Ukraine increased to 15.9% in May 2025, up from 15.1% in April and 14.6% in March, according to the State Statistics Service. For the month, consumer price growth rose to 1.3% from 0.7% in April and 1.5% in March. Over the first five months of the year, inflation stands at 5.6%.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages went up by 2.8%. Fruit saw the largest increase at 17.6%. Prices for meat, non-alcoholic beverages, fish, bread, lard, vegetables, pasta, and sugar rose between 0.7% and 8.3%. Meanwhile, egg prices decreased by 8.7%, while butter, milk, and rice dropped by 0.5% to 0.8%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products experienced a 1.4% increase. Clothing and footwear prices fell by 1.9%.

Transport prices declined by 0.1%. Conversely, road passenger transport fares rose by 0.5%.
