In July, Ukraine increased its steel production by 18% and maintained its Worldsteel global ranking.
In July, Ukraine increased steel production by 18% compared to July 2023, reaching 709,000 tons. The country retained 20th place in the Worldsteel rating. However, compared to June, the indicator decreased by 3.5% (from 735,000 tons). In July, most of the top ten countries again increased their steel production volumes, except China, Japan, the Russian Federation, and South Korea. In Russia, the drop was 3.1% to 6.25 million tons. The total volume of steel production in July decreased by 4.7% compared to July last year to 152.85 million tons. For seven months of the year, global steel production decreased by 0.7% compared to January last year to 1.107 billion tons. During this period, Ukraine produced 4.58 million tons of steel (+33.6%). Ukraine produced 6.23 million tons of steel last year (-0.6% to 2022) after a 70.7% production drop in 2022.
