How did Ukraine’s international trade develop in September 2023?

For the month, the trade deficit amounted to $0.8B. The deficit’s formation stems from the contraction of foreign trade. For the first nine months of the year, the export of goods decreased by 35.9%, while imports increased by 16.7%. In September compared to August, exports and imports of goods decreased by 1.9% and 3.1%, respectively. Export volumes of goods in September amounted to $2.5B.

Exports fell in almost all major product groups and to all regions: the largest drop in nominal terms was observed in EU countries (by 35.3%) and Asia (by 50.3%). Exports to African countries (by 43%), America (by 40.9%), and CIS countries (by 19.4%) also decreased.

In September, import volume amounted to $5.4B. Imports from EU countries increased (17.5%) and Asia (12.3%). Imports from America also increased by $116M. In contrast, imports from the CIS countries decreased by 15.7%.
