High gas prices push Ukrainians to switch to electric cars.
Ukrainians bought 1,908 electric cars in March, 525 of which are new. The demand for new electric vehicles increased by 27% and by 8% for used compared to February, according to Ukravtoprom. The share of new electric cars in March registrations was 28% against 24% in February. In March, the demand for new and used electric vehicles increased by 13% compared to February.
The five most popular used electric cars include the Nissan Leaf (276 cars), Volkswagen ID.4 (146 cars), Tesla Model 3 (137 cars), Tesla Model Y (114 cars), and Volkswagen e-Golf (89 cars).
High fuel prices continue to push Ukrainians to switch to electric cars. Since 2021, interest in electric vehicles has increased significantly, with fuel prices at Ukrainian gas stations in 2021 for one liter of gasoline at UAH 28 compared to UAH 50-55 in 2023.
