Goldman Sachs names Bitcoin as one of the best-performing assets in 2023.
According to the bank’s report, Bitcoin has outperformed the S&P 500, gold, real estate, and the Nasdaq 100. In addition, it said the first cryptocurrency outperformed the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, MSCI Developed Markets, and 10-year US Treasuries. Bitcoin’s total return was 27%, with a risk factor of 3.1. In comparison, other assets lag far behind in these respects. For example, MSCI is in second place with a total return of only 8%. Bitcoin is up more than 40% year-to-date and has surpassed the $23,000 level. No other traditional asset has shown such rapid growth in the first month of 2023. Goldman Sachs was, in the past, a prominent opponent of digital assets. The bank first added bitcoin to its earnings report in early 2021 and, in the second quarter of 2022, started providing crypto services to its customers.
