Canada’s Black Iron has secured land in the Dnipropetrovsk region to develop the Shymanivske iron ore project.
Canadian iron ore exploration and development company Black Iron has signed a multi-year agreement with the city of Kryvyi Rih to lease 248 hectares of land. This area is critical for completing the research required to renew the special permit for the Shymanivske iron ore deposit’s development. The lease covers a significant part of the future quarry and an area currently used by the Ministry of Defense as a military training ground. Black Iron plans to purchase or continue leasing a portion of this government land.
The Shymanivske deposit has significant reserves of high-quality iron ore, making it strategically crucial for metallurgy.
The Black Iron project involves:
- mining ore with a high iron content (68% Fe after enrichment)
- construction of a modern concentrate processing plant
- development of transport infrastructure for product exports
The project’s implementation will attract significant investment into the Ukrainian economy and strengthen the country’s position in the international metallurgical market.
