By the end of the year, Ukraine can export 100 million cubic meters of biomethane.
The MHP agricultural holding’s top manager, Adomas Audickas, said: “If the open markets and buyers are found, Ukraine will be able to export about 100 million cubic meters of biomethane per year from five plants by the end of the year. From our two plants, we can export 35 million cubic meters per year. If all of this works, there will be more and more such projects, and new manufacturers will appear.”
In his opinion, Ukraine’s potential is significant, and in five years Ukraine will be able to export five billion cubic meters of biomethane and attract €5B in investment. At the same time, he noted that in order to open biomethane export, Ukraine needs to work with Europe as some EU markets, such as Germany, are still closed for biomethane exports by pipeline.
According to Audickas, liquefied biomethane can now be exported. The European biomethane market is fragmented, but the EU wants to change that to create a single market for the entire bloc.
