Bankers and financiers assessed the sector’s stability as the best since 2021. The assets held by the non-banking financial sector increased by 4.6%.


The heads of the largest banks and non-banking financial institutions reported positive evaluations of the current state and stability of the financial sector, noting its best condition since 2021. Meanwhile, experts evaluated the overall level of risk in the financial sector as moderately high, with slight improvement compared to the previous survey. Since November 2022, most respondents have rated the stability of the financial sector as medium or high. The primary source of systemic risks remains the ongoing war, while the risks of fraud and cyber threats have significantly increased (+4 positions since November 2024, now in second place).
The NBU also reported that in the first quarter of the year, the total assets held by non-banking financial institutions rose by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter and by 4.6% year-over-year. Risk insurers boosted their assets by 8% per quarter and by 16% annually. At the same time, life insurance companies increased their assets by 3% and 12%, respectively. Risk insurers’ net profit was ₴0.95B, while life insurers’ profit remained at last year’s level of ₴0.25B.
The credit union segment continued to be unprofitable, and the assets of financial companies decreased by 1.2% per quarter but increased by 2.3% per year.
