Another branch of the Ukrainian agricultural sector is drawing foreign investment amid rapid growth.

In recent years, Ukrainian seed exports have demonstrated steady growth. International companies such as Bayer, KWS, Syngenta, Corteva, Maisadour, and Remington Seeds are actively investing in expanding their capacities in Ukraine. Even during the war, Bayer has invested €60M in a seed factory in the Zhytomyr region.
Ukraine is now establishing itself as a global player in the seed market. This sector operates as a distinct business asset characterized by high margins, lower price fluctuations, and a solid foundation for scaling. A compelling reason for investment is the consistent growth of this segment.
In 2023, exports of seeds produced in Ukraine surged by 50%, reaching $119.5M. Last year, 418 producers of seeds and planting materials were registered in Ukraine, reporting the production of 500,000 tons of products. Total seed production in Ukraine is estimated at $2.7B. It is anticipated that the seed market’s export potential could increase to $600M by 2030.
Furthermore, the benefits of investing in Ukrainian seed production include a strong scientific community and skilled workforce, favorable natural conditions, lower production costs, and geographical proximity to the EU.
