A unified Register of Weapons is being launched in Ukraine.
According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Bondarenko, the register will systematize all processes for using firearms to prevent their illegal circulation. In addition, the register will allow the creation of an electronic office, through which a gun owner can apply for the purchase and storage of weapons, update data and carry out other mandatory procedures. The gun registration algorithm is similar to registering a vehicle and obtaining a driver’s license. To become a gun owner, a citizen must undergo training and pass an exam to understand the structural features of a weapon and the rules for its handling and use. Then they buy a gun, which is recorded accordingly in the register. Currently, the registry is in test mode and will be put into commercial operation at the end of October, said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Bondarenko.
