A new waste management system will be introduced in Ukraine, which will also include the establishment of a CHP that uses renewable fuels.

Initial cluster waste management concepts have been developed for various regions of Ukraine. One of the first concepts will focus on the Uzhhorod cluster in Transcarpathia. Currently, experts are analyzing and assessing the existing waste management system and forecasting waste generation volumes for the next 10 years.
By 2034, the Uzhhorod cluster’s population, including internally displaced persons, could reach 285,000, and the volume of waste that is generated may amount to approximately 144,000 tons per year. A sorting station, a mechanical and biological treatment plant, and a modern landfill will be established within the cluster. The feasibility of creating a CHP utilizing renewable fuels obtained from waste is also under consideration. By 2034, plans are in place to establish at least 16 separate household waste collection points in the Uzhhorod cluster.
A cluster waste management system will enhance the sustainability, competitiveness, and efficiency of enterprises carrying out waste management operations in a specific area, making them more appealing for investment.
