A German drone manufacturer with assets in Ukraine raises €160M and becomes a unicorn.

Autonomous UAV manufacturer Quantum Systems from Germany has secured €160M in Series C funding, led by the British venture capital firm Balderton Capital. The funds will be used for researching and developing unmanned AI systems, expanding production, and increasing its presence in Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Quantum Systems produces dual-purpose reconnaissance UAVs utilized in the defense sector, agriculture, mining, and infrastructure monitoring. The startup has secured several government contracts in the US, Colombia, Australia, Germany, Spain, and Ukraine.
The head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov, noted that the total investment in Quantum Systems amounts to €310M, which has established the startup as a unicorn – its valuation has exceeded $1B. He recalled that the company has been a resident of Diia.City since 2023, where foreign companies are allowed to establish production in Ukraine.
“Quantum Systems is actively developing in Ukraine and launched the production of drones here. And their drones have been helping us in the war since May 2022,” the minister added.
