A German company becomes the first buyer of electricity origin guarantees in Ukraine, which will aid in the development of renewable energy.

The first corporate sale of electricity guarantees of origin in the renewable energy market has taken place in Ukraine. Knauf Gips Kyiv, a manufacturer of building materials that is part of the German Knauf Group, purchased the guarantees from D.Trading.
This marks an important milestone in the development of the Ukrainian electricity guarantees-of-origin market. Using the national electronic register, Knauf verifies the reliability and transparency of the system. This event could serve as a catalyst to bolster the demand for guarantees of origin for electricity in Ukraine, ultimately facilitating a more dynamic market integration with the EU. Expanding such transactions will not only enhance trust in the market but also support the attainment of broader renewable energy goals.
Knauf has commenced construction on a new plant that will produce gypsum board and dry building mixes in the Ternopil region. This will be the second Knauf plant in Ukraine, joining the first in Kyiv.
