A few EU countries are demanding severe sanctions in the 8th package.

Poland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have all demanded increased pressure on Russia in the new package of European Union sanctions. According to Bloomberg, Poland, Ireland, and three Baltic countries want the EU to expand its sanctions on Russian energy, including a ban on liquefied natural gas (LPG) and restrictions on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. These proposals also exclude a larger number of Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system, starting with Gazprombank. Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ireland, and Poland have also proposed banning insurance services and tightening restrictions on crypto transactions. These countries are also proposing to ban the use of products from Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab in the EU and to strengthen existing restrictions on technology exports.
