Ukrainian businesses are expanding into new areas despite war challenges.

According to analysts, in the first half of 2025 entrepreneurial activity in Ukraine continued to recover despite the many disruptions of the previous years. Entrepreneurs are not only resuming operations but also launching new companies in promising sectors. The most active sectors for new company openings included wholesale trade (2,066), real estate activities (1,439), information technology (1,429), construction (1,351), and transportation and logistics (1,281).

In the first quarter, notable increases in new businesses were seen in sports organizations (+286.7%), the pulp and paper industry (+275%), and telecommunications (+244.4%). In the second quarter, the fastest growth was in financial intermediaries (+1,766.7%), auditing and accounting services (+190.3%), and public organizations (+176.1%).

Although there is positive momentum, some sectors are still experiencing high volatility. In the first half of the year, the highest number of terminated legal entities was recorded in public organizations (332), agriculture (287), and wholesale trade (252).

The largest numbers of new companies were registered in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Lviv regions.
