An underground industrial park will be created in the Kharkiv region with the support of international investors.

Entrepreneurs from the Kharkiv region announced during a telethon that after the massive shelling and loss of enterprises in the Kharkiv region, they plan to create the first underground industrial park in Ukraine. The director of a bicycle manufacturing company, Andriy Savran, said that in February 2022 Russian shelling destroyed production in the Kharkiv region, causing losses of ₴60M. After operating for a year and a half in the Ternopil region, the company returned to its native region.
At the same time, out of 15 enterprises in the region’s industrial cluster, only three remain today – these are companies in the fields of mechanical engineering, metalworking, hydraulic systems and school furniture.
To preserve jobs and support industry, the region decided to create an underground industrial park. It is assumed that the park will become an autonomous space for enterprises. International investors have agreed to support the project, as the organizing entrepreneurs are facing a lack of grants and state support due to their location in the red zone. The initiative to create an underground park could be a key solution to preserving the region’s industry.
