UkraineInvest will provide support for a large-scale investment in the Kyiv region’s first glass factory.

The State Investment Promotion Office, UkraineInvest, is backing a project with significant investment to build NovaSklo, which would be Ukraine’s largest float glass manufacturing plant. According to EFI Group founder Igor Liski, construction of the glass factory will begin this year. The facility will provide a wide range of products, reducing the country’s reliance on imports.

“Ukraine spends over €150M annually on glass, with 35% of that being imported,” Liski noted.

The factory’s construction will be one of the initial pilot projects, and will receive state support for five years along with incentives and benefits that could amount to as much as 30% of the project’s cost. The investment in the glass factory is expected to total €240M, financed by a German bank. The German Export Credit Agency is also supporting the project by providing insurance covering 85% of equipment costs, approximately €97M.

The first glass is anticipated to be produced at the plant in 2027, with the initial phase projected to have a capacity of 25 million square meters of glass, sufficient to satisfy 50% of the country’s glass demand.
