Foreign investment during the war: Who is building factories in Ukraine?

Desire from foreign businesses to participate in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and the state’s Made in Ukraine program, despite the ongoing war, has stimulated the expansion of production and the construction of new factories.

Here are some of the projects funded by foreign investment:

  1. Austrian Kronospan is developing an industrial park in the Rivne region focused on woodworking, and last year launched a €200M OSB-plate production line.
  2. German Knauf has begun constructing its second plant in Ukraine for €150M that will produce plasterboard and dry building mixes in the Ternopil region.
  3. British Unilever is building a €20M plant that will produce personal hygiene products in the Bila Tserkva industrial park in the Kyiv region.
  4. Finnish Peikko Group Corporation is building production facilities in the same industrial park that will produce composite structures.
  5. Swiss Nestlé completed the construction of a €40M vermicelli production plant near Lutsk.
  6. French Saint-Gobain opened an €11M gypsum mixture production plant in the Carpathian region last year.
