New details about the new Knauf plant in the Ternopil region: The German company is relocating one of its factories to Ukraine.
German Knauf, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of building materials, plans to launch a second factory in Ukraine by the end of the year. However, the company will not build the factory from scratch but will transport it from Germany; the equipment has already been delivered.
Knauf began constructing a new factory to produce drywall and dry building mixes in Ukraine in December 2024. The factory will be fully operational by the end of 2025 in the town of Borshchiv in the Ternopil region. Knauf’s main raw material base is a gypsum quarry, with explored reserves that will last for at least 20 years of operation.
Moreover, on January 16 Knauf purchased a 20-year special permit for gypsum extraction at the Skovyatyn deposit in the same region for ₴121M. The deposit reserves amount to 43.9 million tons. Annual quarry productivity of 502,800 tons should be enough to provide for 84.4 years.
