Ukrainians are increasing their investment in government bonds: The share is already 4%.
In August 2024, the Ministry of Finance raised ₴29.1B from the issuance of government bonds. Military bonds accounted for ₴6B of the total volume of government bonds issued in August. As of September 2, over ₴1.68T worth of OVDP bonds are in circulation.
The largest shares belong to commercial banks (43.7%) and the NBU (40.3%). Legal entities and individuals share 10.3% and 4% of the total, respectively.
The tendency for increased demand among citizens persists. At the beginning of August, Ukrainians (individuals) owned government bonds worth ₴63.7B, and at the beginning of September, this amount had increased to ₴67.5B.
The weighted average yield of government bonds denominated in hryvnia in August was 16.15%. The level of refinancing for January-August was 146%. For comparison, this indicator reached 133% for all currencies in the first eight months of last year. In general, during January-August, the Ministry of Finance attracted ₴318.4B equivalent from the sale of OVDP bonds.
