According to the KSE, Ukrainian manufacturers can potentially produce 90% of the building materials needed to rebuild the country. About $65B will be needed for these building materials. Currently, the size of foreign and Ukrainian investments in this industry’s development is estimated at $730M.
The sector’s main problem is a significant drop in demand – up to 25-40% compared to the pre-war period. Therefore, investment in the industry is anticipating work in the future. One of the main materials for reconstruction is cement. Also, demand for concrete, metal structures, bricks, glass, and thermal insulation materials is predicted. Among the most active investment projects now:
- The Irish company Kingspan Group is starting to build a construction materials manufacturing facility for more than $280M.
- The Ukrainian company EFI Group plans to build the first Novasklo plant in Ukraine to produce float glass and coated glass with investment of about €232M.
- Ukrainian company City One Development is building a €100M glass factory in the Kyiv region and plans to build another glass factory.
