In the next 10 years, Ukraine will continue to suffer from a labor shortage.

According to OLX Robota research, 67% of employers in Ukraine have already faced a personnel crisis, caused by mobilization and the population’s migration abroad. Companies solve the problem differently: 29% increase their motivation package, 28% employ young people, 21% prefer hiring women. Also, 65% of respondents believe that the employment situation will worsen.

To combat the crisis, employers plan to hire young people who are not eligible for the draft (46%), attract students for internships (33%), and focus on hiring women (34%) and men who are unable to serve (32%).

The Ministry of Social Policy predicts that the labor market’s deficit will only increase in the next ten years. If the demographic situation does not improve, then by 2050 Ukraine’s population may decrease to 25 million people. The need for labor could amount to 8.6 million workers. Thus, Ukrainian employers will have to compete for people in the markets of EU countries and North America.
