Closure of individual enterprises in Ukraine increased by 54% and companies by 15%, but the registration of new businesses is also growing.
According to analysts, almost 92,000 individual entrepreneurs (FOP) ceased their activities in Ukraine in the first half of the year, which is 54% more than in the same period last year. The most significant number of entrepreneurs closed in May and January – more than 16,000 each month.
Most of the FOPs were closed in the retail trade sectors – over 29,000 (+44.8%), information technologies – almost 16,000 (+65.9%), and other services – 9,700 (+60.8%).
At the same time, more than 1,500 companies (+15%) also ceased operations in these six months. The leading sectors in closed businesses were wholesale trade, real estate operations, and construction.
However, in the first half of the year more than 13,000 new companies and almost 148,500 sole proprietorships were registered in Ukraine compared to the same period last year: 12,500 companies and 134,000 sole proprietorships.
