Turkey seeks to revive and expand the grain deal as a step toward peace in Ukraine, while the US is pinning its hopes on Brazil.

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated his desire to revive the Black Sea Grain Agreement on an “expanded scale” and called on Western countries to help turn this initiative into a basis for peace in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

According to the Turkish leader, contacts regarding the initiative’s restart “on an expanded scale” are ongoing, but the decision depends on Western countries fulfilling “their promises”. However, he did not specify exactly which obligations have been violated.

Previously, Russia repeatedly demanded improving its trade in food products and fertilizers, restoring transit through the ammonia pipeline that passes through Ukraine, and connecting Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT payment system.

Interestingly, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken believes Brazil can influence Russia and help the Kremlin return to the Black Sea Agreement.
