Ukraine will receive an additional 300 German Vector drones and Gepard air defense systems from the US.
The German company Quantum-Systems GmbH received an order for 300 additional medium-range Vector reconnaissance UAVs to be provided as military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The German government will finance the transfer of equipment. The manufacturing company reported that Ukraine had already ordered 105 drones in January 2023 and another 33 in August last year.
Quantum Systems noted that cooperation with the Ukrainian military accelerated the process of improving the Vector UAV. Artificial intelligence technology will be able to free drone operators from monitoring constant video surveillance. The drones’ potential operating time has also been extended to 180 minutes.
The US, in turn, will buy Gepard anti-aircraft guns for Ukraine. The Pentagon announced a contract with the American company Global Military Products for $118M. The Ukrainian military should receive the equipment by the end of May 2024.
