Ukraine lacks $6.5B for rapid reconstruction, said Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko.

He notes that of the $14B needed for rapid reconstruction, $3.3B is already in the budget. There are also stated intentions of partners to finance these costs. In particular, the US will allocate $2.3B, the EU €1B, and Japan $600M. Through the UTRF fund of the World Bank, $852M has already been collected from several countries. Ukraine also attracted credit financing from Great Britain (UKEF), Italy (SACE), and France (BpiFrance).

However, the minister added that there is still $6.5B that must be found. But even the money currently available cannot be easily used because partners primarily allocate funds for specific projects, and the lifecycle for these types of projects is complex and long-term.

Due to this, the head of the Ministry of Finance considers it a priority to focus on preparing technical and economic justifications for projects and then looking for donors to finance them.
